New driveways consist of removing unwanted material such as brush, stumps, or topsoil and grading the area where the driveway will go. Next you usually add 4” to 6” of base rock to create the foundation. Sometimes if the ground is muddy you can add road fabric under the base so mud doesn’t pump up through the driveway. The next step is to add the top course material usually a fine gravel and put a crown on the driveway or slope it to one side so the water will flow off. Last you want to compact the driveway to help lock it in and leave a smooth even finish that won’t pothole as easy.
Gravel driveways need maintenance. Often potholes form for several reasons but the most common is water. A regrade consist of cutting out the potholes and adding a new layer of rock to create a crown so water can shed off.
Landscape grading is reshaping the land. Typically, we use excavators, skid loaders, or dozers to remove unwanted material and grade smooth to utilize for many reasons. Grading is done for driveways, small building pads, foundations, pavers, sidewalks, lawns, drainage and many other reasons. It is also used for site stabilizing or aesthetic purposes.
Clearing and brush removal deals with removing unwanted trees, stumps, and brush. Sometimes trees can be cut from the ground and sometimes it requires a climber to take it down in pieces. An excavator or other machinery is often used to remove brush, logs, and stumps.
We specialize in demolition and removal of all projects, including porches, fences, sheds, garages, swimming pools, concrete pads, and complete houses.
Retaining walls are often used to create more usable space in your landscape. With a retaining wall you can have a vertical cut rather than a gradual slope creating more level ground. Retaining walls are typically built by excavating a trench where the wall will sit and adding compacted gravel. Thickness of gravel depends on height of wall but typically at least four inches. This ensures the wall will not settle which affects aesthetics and durability. The bottom row is set below grade locking the wall to the ground so it can’t shift. As the wall is built up you backfill with a clear crush that locks together and allows water to drain around it. This will prevent a surcharge which can bow the wall out and push it over. When a wall gets over a certain height, they require engineering and additional steps.

Pavers are often use for patios, walkways, or driveways. Like most construction pavers need a solid base. First topsoil or organic material will need to be removed. Fix any drainage issues and add paver fabric and compacted gravel. Lay about 1” of sand before setting pavers.
Have a water issue? There are many kinds of drainage solutions to fix it. Some common drainage solutions are gutter drains, footing drains, French drains, catch basins, ditches, swells, and sloping the ground.
Garden enclosures are a good way to keep deer, birds, and other large rodents out of your garden. Raised beds look good and require less bending over when weeding or picking vegetables.
We can build a variety of fences from livestock fences to privacy fences. Fences can add decorative curb appeal, divide property lines, add privacy, and keep animals in or out.
